How to pack spaghetti bolognese for a hot lunch for kids

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS

If you send a packed lunch to school or nursery for your child it can be hard thinking of different options every day, especially if your child doesn’t like sandwiches.

Hot lunches in a food flask is a great option and also a good way to use up leftovers from dinner.

How To Heat A Food Flask

The first step is to add boiling water to a food flask, close the lid tightly and leave for 15 minutes.

This will heat up the food flask and help to keep the food warm until lunchtime.

Next, heat up the leftover spaghetti bolognese.

You can do this on the hob or in the microwave but be sure to heat it until all the food is piping hot.

Once hot, I cut the spaghetti into smaller strands with a scissors to make it easier to get it into the flask and easier for kids to eat too.

If you’re looking for a great Spaghetti Bolognese recipe then try my go-to which I’ve been making for years.

After 15 minutes pour the water out of the flask and add the heated spaghetti bolognese. You can also add a little grated cheese to the top.

Try to do this as quickly as you can and close the lid tightly asap.

This will help to retain as much of the heat as possible inside the flask.

Add the food flask to a lunchbag with any other extra food or snacks and don’t forget the fork!

FOOD FLASK RECOMENDATION

This is the Food Flask I use and I highly recommend it. It comes in a variety of colours and stickers too so kids can personalise it.
